Advocacy General Report: Comparison Widget Overview

The Comparison Widget on the General Report in Employee Advocacy lets you break down your program's performance into different groups so you can quickly identify what's working best. Instead of filtering the report one group at a time, you can now see a table that compares metrics across all teams, topics, tags, networks, or months at once.

What You Can Do

With the Comparison Widget, you can:

• Break down the General Report by Network (default), Team, Topic, Tag, or Month

• View key metrics side-by-side: Shares, Potential Reach, Impressions, Engagements, Clicks, and Earned Media Value (if enabled for your account)

• Sort the table by any metric column or alphabetically by the group name

• Search for a specific team, topic, or tag when using those breakdowns

• Use your existing report filters (date range, teams) — the breakdown applies to your filtered results

How to Use

1. Navigate to Employee Advocacy → Reports → General Report.

2. The Comparison Widget appears as a table section on the General Report. By default, it shows the Network breakdown.

3. Use the breakdown selector to switch the view between Network, Team, Topic, Tag, or Month.

4. Click any column header to sort the table by that metric. Click again to reverse the sort direction.

5. When viewing by Team, Topic, or Tag, use the search box to locate a specific group quickly.

6. Results are paginated after 75 items — use pagination controls to navigate large result sets.

7. Apply top-level report filters (date range, teams) first to narrow your data, then use the breakdown to analyze the filtered results.

 

 

FAQ

Where do I find the Comparison Widget in the Advocacy General Report?

The Comparison Widget replaces the previous network breakdown widget on the General Report. When you navigate to the General Report in Advocacy, you'll see it as a table section with a breakdown selector at the top.

What metrics does the Advocacy General Report Comparison Widget show for each breakdown group?

The widget displays Shares, Potential Reach, Impressions, Engagements, and Clicks for each group. Earned Media Value is also shown if your company has that setting enabled.

Can I compare performance across teams in the Advocacy General Report Comparison Widget?

Yes. Select "Team" from the breakdown selector and the table will show a row for each team with all metrics side-by-side. You can also search for a specific team name using the search box.

Can I compare performance by topic or tag in the Advocacy General Report Comparison Widget?

Yes. Select "Topic" or "Tag" from the breakdown selector. Each topic or tag will appear as a row in the table, and you can use the search box to find a specific one.

How does the Month breakdown work in the Advocacy General Report Comparison Widget?

When you select "Month," the table shows each month within your selected date range as a row, with all metrics aggregated for that month. This helps you identify trends over time.

Does the Comparison Widget respect the report's existing date range and team filters?

Yes. The widget breaks down whatever data is already filtered by the report's top-level filters. For example, if you filter to Q3 and then select the Team breakdown, you'll see each team's Q3 performance.

What happened to the Team Breakdown section on the Advocacy User Report?

The Team Breakdown section has been removed from the User Report. You can now use the Comparison Widget on the General Report with the "Team" breakdown for a more comprehensive view that includes additional metrics.

Can I search for a specific team, topic, or tag in the Comparison Widget?

Yes. When the breakdown is set to Team, Topic, or Tag, a search box appears above the table. Type to filter the results to the group you're looking for.

How many rows does the Advocacy General Report Comparison Widget show before paginating?

The table displays up to 75 items per page. If your breakdown has more than 75 groups, use the pagination controls at the bottom of the table to navigate between pages.

Can I sort the Comparison Widget table by a specific metric like Shares or Engagements?

Yes. Click any column header (Shares, Potential Reach, Impressions, Engagements, Clicks, or Earned Media Value) to sort by that metric. You can also sort alphabetically by the group name.

Is the Comparison Widget available in Sprout's My Reports custom report builder?

No. The Comparison Widget is only available on the General Report within Employee Advocacy at this time.

Who can access the Advocacy General Report Comparison Widget?

All customers with Employee Advocacy connected to their Sprout account can access the General Report and the Comparison Widget. No additional plan tier is required beyond having the Advocacy add-on.
